That said, EDR vendors have come to realize it is a little harder to sell products when they say, "our programs are impossible to test, but they work better than anything else, so give us a purchase order." (which sounds like the AV industry being accused of being snake oil salesmen) and started to be more receptive to letting testers do their thing.Īlso unsurprisingly, most of the independent third-party testers have their own historical background in testing security software, and are going to be familiar names if you have been involved in that space, before. Part of that is because those systems can be more difficult to configure for a small rollout, but also because there has historically been some pushback against being tested at all. One of the biggest problems when looking into EDR solutions is that they do not have the same history when it comes to reviews like anti-virus/anti-malware/internet security/endpoint protection/ programs.
